5 Ways Dogs Show You Their Love

Love and How Your Pet Dog Will Show It to You…Dogs love their humans. They have a ton of love to give, that much is obvious.

It isn’t hard to see how dogs show us affection, but what about the subtle ways that your dog shows you their love? Learning to pick up signs that your dog is showing you affection is actually quite interesting, and today, I will share 5 ways dogs show you their love, that you may not have thought of.

Anyone knows that when a dog wags their tail, they are happy or showing signs of affection - (thank you captain obvious) – but did you know that is not always the case? A wagging dog tail can also be a sign of anxiety, nervousness, and even curiosity.

Let’s Go Over Some Not So Common Ways That a Dog Will Show You He Loves You:

1. Your Dog Will Follow You Around

Sometimes, this can be a wee bit annoying, go on, admit it! BUT, did you know that when your dog is following you around like a little lost puppy (pun intended!) they are seeking your attention, and showing you they care? It’s true!

Your dog will follow you around the house for 2 common reasons. The first being a hope for food… the second being the fact that they are simply showing you that they love you, and are in need of some extra snuggle time at that particular moment.

2. Jumping Up on You

Yep, I know… this habit that we work so hard on teaching our dog NOT to do. So you might be wondering, how on earth does a dog jumping on me, mean that he loves me? According to my research, when dogs are just young pups, they will lick their moms face to show them affection, and when they attempt to jump up on us, they could be trying to reach our face to give us a lick. They recognize that we are their parent, and try to act accordingly so.

Love and How Your Pet Dog Will Show It to You: Sleeping With You3. Sleeping With You

If you think about any litter of puppies that you have ever seen – most often, they cuddle up and sleep together during nap times. They do this for 2 reasons; to keep warm, and to feel comfortable with their family/siblings. When they sleep next to us in bed, it is for their own comfort, to show us their love, and be part of the family.

4. Ever Notice Your Dog Is Extra “Lovey” When You Are Feeling Under the Weather?

Your dog can tell when something isn’t right. Their instincts will take over as they pour their love out to you, in order to help you feel better.

5. Crotch Sniffing

Sounds gross right?

But hey, it is what it is, and there is a good reason why some dogs do this. To them, sniffing at your crotch area is pretty much the same as a hug or a handshake.

There are so many people out there who consider dogs to just be something which people should use for guarding purposes, or work only. That we humanize our pets far too much, and that the fact that a dog both feels love, and shows love, is ridiculous. Well to them I say, HA! If only these people could allow themselves to feel the love a pet has to offer, maybe they would change their tune.

Great post, these are all true! One of the things our pups do is nuzzle you with their nose – sort of softly push you just a tiny bit with their tiny snouts and then curl up behind you!
