Yes, you read that right. Valentine’s Day is right around the corner… already!

Valentine’s Day Fun for Your Pet Dog

Valentine’s Day is a day of love, also known as Saint Valentine’s Day. February 14’th was originally in honor of different saints named Valentinus. The day became associated with romantic love in the 14’th century.

Now that we are more familiar with the day of love, do you have a furry friend you want to be your valentine?

Let’s Go Over 10 Ways to Show Your Pet You Love Them on Valentine’s Day

1. Bake some yummy, pet friendly, heart shaped biscuits for your pets!

2. Take your dog out shopping at your local pet store for some Valentine’s Day themed toys.

3. Consider seeking a professional pet photographer to have some photos taken of you and your pet.

4. Spa day! Not all dogs like being groomed, but some do! If your dog is one of them, take a trip to the groomer and let your him/her get pampered.

5. Know of any dog friendly cafes? Take a trip with your pooch and have a special Valentine’s Day brunch together.

6. Schedule a doggie play date. Call up a friend or family member who has a dog as well, and invite them over for a play date.

7. Anyone up for a road trip? It’s no secret dogs love car rides… well… most of them. Take your dog on a road trip to a nice park or walking trail.

8. Snuggle up to your dog or cat while watching a favorite movie.

9. Consider creating a clay print of your pets paws. A special moment spent between pet and paw-rent on Valentine’s Day will create lifelong memories.

10. Finally, probably the best way you can show your pet you love them this Valentine’s Day would be to keep them safe. February 14’th brings out loads of chocolate and candy. Both of which are incredibly dangerous to your pets. Be safe, keep your goodies high up out of paws reach!

“My Valentine? He’s strong, athletic,
with big brown eyes, and loves long walks on the beach.
That’s right…. it’s my dog.”

What sort of things will you be doing with your pet on February 14’th?

My dog, Henry, and I met on Valentine’s Day in 2015, so it’s a special day for us :) I always pamper him! My boyfriend knows that he’s #2!

  2. There are some great ideas there but since we are a tribe of five felines, we think you may want to add a tuna treat to the list.
    Purrs and Meows,
Tucker, Jasmine, Lily, Alberto & Oliver

  3. Mr. N has a dog play date that weekend! I wonder if I should make some treats.

  4. Those are some great ideas. I plan to bake Kilo the Pug some treats and take him for a few short walks. We may also go to PawsWay to play on the agility equipment.

  5. It is only when you see a professional photographer at work that you realise WHY they get paid to do it for a living! This is something I would definitely do. Place for Cats has had a professional take some pictures of one of the harder to adopt cats and they are TOTALLY PERFECT.

It would be my Doogy Valentine gift of choice!!

Sounds wonderful! And omg yes! A friend of mine is a pet photographer, and sometimes we do events at my pet store where we take photos of peoples pets for Christmas or Valentines Day etc etc… and wow the patience needed!!! I applaud the pet photographers of the world! :D

  6. Carol Bryant says:

Every day is Christmas and Valentine’s all in one in this doggie household. We plan to snuggle and to play a bunch at the park. We are fans of 4kNines and planning to get another seat cover for the driver’s side of the car, too.

  7. Beth says:

These are all great ways to enjoy the bond you share with your dog. My dogs love treats, long walks and snuggling the most.

  8. I would love to get some professional photographs of my girls.

  9. Robin says:

My cats would love nothing more than a family nap for Valentine’s Day! They just love to curl up to me when I’m in bed (which isn’t very often). Dexter says that he really wants a belly rub and Manna wants treats. :)
