Pet Refuge is a not-for-profit “no-kill” animal shelter established in April 1978. Pet Refuge is run by volunteers for the placement of unwanted and abandoned pets into responsible permanent homes.
Pet Refuges mission is to protect the health, welfare and provide the best possible placement for every animal placed in the care of their organization. Pet Refuge is a No-Kill organization, recognizing the value of each animal life. They spay and neuter every animal to help control pet overpopulation and educate the public as to pet care and welfare.
Pet Refuge maintains an office in South Bend, Indiana coordinating prospective owners with available pets. Maintaining Foster Homes and a Shelter where abandoned pets are cared for until they find their “fur ever” homes. All initial immunizations, as well as Leukemia and FIV for cats and heartworm tests for dogs are given before adoption.
Pet Refuge provides many events to the public interest of animal awareness
Summer Camp Unleashed, for ages 10-15, where the kids will meet and greet shelter dogs; make bandanas, treats and toys; service projects for area animals and listen to guest speakers, learning interesting facts.
How about making your child’s birthday a unique experience by having a Birthday “Pawty” at Pet Refuge?
They have several packages available for ages 6-12. Two hours of animal-themed fun for up to 15 children. Hosted by an Education Coordinator, tour of the facility and a choice games to keep the “pawty” exciting. Silent Auctions, Blood Drives and so much more.
As with all nonprofits, Pet Refuge relies on the kindness of volunteers and the generosity of donors.
